Did I buy the wrong RAM.....

I just build my new computer. It worked for a few days, then got the BSOD, then would not even boot....
CPU is AMD 955

MOBO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128435

MEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231443

Looking at the link for compatability memory from Gigabyte, it shows the 12800CL9D and the 12800CL7D, but not what I got, the CL8D..... http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=7688

Could this be a problem......

I also read on the G-Skill forum where with AMD mobo's and DDR3-1600 memory, you have to go into the bios and change a bunch of settings for the memory to work correctly.....(DRAM setting, frequency, ect) http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=7688

This is my first build, and I'm just learning....I really hope that I did not waste a bunch of money pursuing my own build....New Egg is sending me a new CPU and MOBO.....Hopefully the second time is a charm...

I will buy new memory if I need to, just don't want to keep tinkering with this build.

Thx

Yeah, most likely you'll have to go in and manual change the freqency for the memory. Your memory should still work. The manufacturers aren't gonna spend the time to test each and every memory available on each board.

The memory will just run at slower speeds most likely at 1333 mhz speed I believe. I know I had to change settings in the bios so my 1600mhz ram would run at that speed.

So if memory in not compatable with a MOBO/CPU, what will happen, just not boot up, freeze up, ect???

It won't damage anything will it?

That's the thing, incompatible ram can cause weird things to happen, anywhere from not booting up, weird issues in windows.
