the size of the screen doesn't matter, there are 24 inches that are only 1600x900 and 24 inches that are over 1920x1080, the resolution is the number of pixels in the screen so 1920x1080 has 1920 pixel going across the screen and 1080 going up, higher res means more pixels meaning a bigger image for the gpu to process taking more power.

I think you should really try and get a more powerful graphics card, get an HD 6850 if you can, if not then something like a 6770. Either of those would play BF3 much better than the card you are anticipating on getting.
