 When i bought my cpu for my comp i built, right on the box it gave the specs for the chip. it says 2.8 ghz.blablabla the importantnt thing is it says 2.8ghz and when i go to my computer properties it says that my cpu is running at 2.3...at that is even after i overclocked it. it orignally ran at 2.1 ghz before i even touched it! how do i get the 2.8?

Just curious, and this is offtopic, how come you write in your signature that your processor has 1 GB L2 Cahce???!!!! I think you meant 1 MB, not 1 GB or else, I would buy your processor immediately even if it is running at whatever speed :D

I think you probably put in a 200MHz (800 QDR) FSB and have it running at a FSB of 133MHz (533 QDR) FSB. This is the only thing I can think of that would cut the clock speed that much in a desktop.

Are you absolutely sure, that you bought a Pentium, not an Athlon processor? 2800+ would be a performance rating für Athlon XP Bartons with exactly 2.1 GHz...

well i have no idewa what i was thinking when i typed my sig...thanx for the correction lol. yes it is a pentium. i am staring at the box. and cromwell... not to be a noob but wtf does that mean!?!?!?

try jumper's on your bored, or ask your mobo company.
My Celeron D 2.8Ghz, was running at 2.0, try the change of a jumper i went to 2.8Ghz,then i tryed the last one just to see and it went to 3.60Ghz, i moved it abck to 2.8Ghz though so it wont over heat.

wish i knew how to do that

It's easy enough to change the setting and it's all in the motherboard manual but to make things simple (you want to set it to 200):

thanx a bunch man... im confident that will do the trick. 1 problem tho...i am not at my computer right now but i dont even think i remember plugging anything into those... u think u could explain what i need to do?

You will probably figure it out as soon as you open it up and look at them, but you probably didnt put anything on them, the board has them on right out of the box, you've just got to move them.
