Did XP Change?

When assembling my new computer, i am going to put XP on as the OS. I have two copies of windows XP, a 2002 version and a 2005 version. I was going to put on the 2005 version, but it is a CD made for reinstalling a lost OS on a Gateway computer. I am not sure if this will wrk, seeing as how the computer it came with is still operational. Is there any big difference between 2002 and 2005 that would make a huge difference when i load the OS, or can i just load the 2002 and upgrade it to SP3.
Thanks.

The only 2005 edition that I know of is Windows XP Media Center Edition, the rest (XP Home and XP Pro) are the 2002 editions. Remember, there are different CD Key's for every version of Windows.

You can't install an os if the same key is being used on another machine. Are both your cds ones that came with other pcs? If so that won't work. You need to buy a new copy.
