Difference b/w dual core and core-2-duo

can any one tell me the difference in architecture of dual core and core-2-duo processor? which one is better?
plz reply to both the questions.

If you mean Pentium Dual-Core and C2D, they're based off the same architecture, but PDCs have less cache, lower FSB, and generally lower clockrate. If you had a PDC and C2D of the same clock rate the C2D would be faster, but if you had one of the same clock rate, same FSB and same cache, they should perform identical.
