difference between 4850 and 4870

I was wondering what the difference between the 4850 and the 4870 is. they have the same memory speed, same average clock speed, and same stream processors. So what makes the 4870 so much better than the 4850?

ATI's new single-slot 4850 debuts with a core clock rate of 625MHz, 512MB of DDR3 clocked at 1GHz DDR (2GHz effective), and a 256-bit memory path. The 4870, meanwhile, is a dual-slot solution running at 750 MHz, and it carries 512MB of DDR5 running at a whopping 1.8GHz DDR (3.6GHz effective). Since both cards sport the same RV770 GPU, the differences between them boil down to core clock speed, the type of memory used (GDDR3 vs. GDDR5) and the type of cooling solution (single-slot vs. double-slot).

according to newegg, most 4850s and 4870s have the same amount of memory, although the 4870s have some 1GB cards.
The clock speeds are a bigger difference than I have origonally imagined.
Most of the 4850 and 4870 cards are rated at memory speeds of about 1800 MHz but I do see some that have ratings of 3600MHz.
They also have the same stream processors and phisical chip type on the cards.

Other than this, I don't really see any MAJOR differences between the the two cards.
