Difference between ram speed/type

What is the speed difference from DDR to DDR2 to DDR3?

On a scale 1-10?

Or speed in %?

For example, i would think:

DDR
DDR2 = 50% faster than DDR
DDR3 = 50% faster than DDR2 and 100% faster than DDR

I'm probably totally wrong, but you get my point, what do you think?

It depending entirely on the speeds and timings of the RAM you are looking at. You can't say all DDR3 performs x% better than all DDR2

There is no general answer to your question in my knowledge since latency differs with different brands of RAM. Generally speaking, Double Data Rate is slower than Double Data Rate 2. I would be more concerned with brands of memory when you want high performance Random Access Memory.

From what I have read, DDR3 isn't any faster than high performance DDR2 memory yet because latencies in DDR3 are higher than DDR2. As the technology matures, Double Data Rate 3 will end up faster than Double Data Rate 2 memory.

What brands produce high performance gaming memory? I know OCZ produces some high quality DDR2 memory. Anyone else feel free to chime in and give information on what manufacturers produce high performance RAM.
