Hey Guys

I need some help

I need to know what the difference between these is? I mean how much of a performance boost will i get?

DDR2 800 with timings of 4-4-4-12
vs
DDR2 1066 with timings of 5-5-5-12

and

DDR2 1066 with timings of 4-4-4-12
vs
DDR2 1200 with timings 5-5-5-12

The RAM i am Currently looking at are the Transcend Axe Ram 1066 with timings of 4-4-4-12 at 1.8v

Thanks for any help guys

Read the very end of that post. You can do the theory math for which one is faster with calculator. It's easy :)

edit: just for completeness, DDR-800 is more than fast enough. Running a combined RAM speed (dual channel speed) that's faster than that of the bus is kind of pointless. You do get more performance but it's mainly benchmark performance, nothing you would really see.

well im gonna get a new mobo and CPU (Q9450) and i want it to be a gaming computer

So what will there be like a 1 -3 frame difference.

They would be very close in performance if not the same. You want to get lower timings and high frequencies. The lower the timings the better. The 800MHz would have an advantage in timings while the 1066 has a higher requency. You can also overclock your memory, I have my pair of 800MHz 4-4-4-12 (which are cheaper than 1066) overclocked to 1000MHz 5-5-5-12. ;) Which could be compared to stock 1066 5-5-5-12 sticks.

Same concept as above
