Hi there,

I would like to know the difference between windows firewall and antivirus software.

If one of them detect that the website contain harmful virus or spy, is it the firewall that prompt you that you receive the harmful website, or antivirus program like Norton Antivirus?

If you want to download something from a website, and it is harmful, is it firewall that prompt you that it is harmful , or antivirus program?

Yes, when it's downloaded, provided you have up-to-date virus definitions, the antivirus that would prompt you.

Firewalls really only block access to your computer ports, so if a trojan for example should be on your computer it would detect it accessing the internet and probably warn you that it is malicious, and recommend that you block it. If your ports are being scanned for vunerabilities or are being accessed without your consent your firewall would block this access. Unfortunately, Windows Firewall does none of this ;).
