different brand memory but same speed ok?

i already have 2x1gb 800mhz OCZ ram and want to add another 2x1gb 800mhz crucial ballistixs. would mixing different brands of memory have any negative effects?

and after the addition of the two crucial sticks, i plan to OC the memory a bit so then would having two different brands make a difference? the crucials can OC higher so the OCZ would be my limiting factor right?

i already have THESE OCZs and will get THESE crucials
 
i did that before. it didnt make a difference. Its probly recommended to get the same brand, but it shouldnt make a difference. but iv enever OCd, but that shouldnt make a diff either. ur good dude.
 
ya i guess it wont make a difference on stock, but the thing is i plan to OC. i think it will make a difference because some memory modules will OC better than others because the will run at different voltages and their OC limits will differ. i think that the OCZ will hardly even OC while the ballistixs will OC much higher. am i right?
 
it will work but the DIMM wont work . its better if u hav same brand same speed same size. DIMM can go alot faster than normal mode
 
what do you mean "it" will work but DIMM wont? i thought DIMM was just another word for "slot". whats the difference between DIMM and normal mode?
 
DIMM is dual inline memory module. I don't know what he's talking about.

It will work fine. OCing is a question but there's no guarantee the Crucial will OC more or less than the OCz. The crucial is already at 2.2V (granted that's for 4-4-4 but that still seems a little high) where as the OCz is 1.8V for 5-5-5.
 
how will different timings and voltages at stock affect OCing later? when the voltages are adjusted from the mobo, it will simultaneously change for all the modules so how will the different stock voltages required make a difference in this scenario?
 
Ram with different voltage and timming is harder to overclock. You manually have to find a equilibrium between the two, compared to having two of the same sticks with equal voltage and timming.
