Different kind of build... help?

[scooter]

Okay, I got a buddy that wants a business machine built for him and I thought I'd get some people on here to build/recommend a full set of components for a business setup.

Don't need a keyboard, monitor, mouse, webcam, mic, speakers, or headset.

Must be fast, lots of storage, vista business or premium...doesn't matter!

500GB HDD minimum...probably looking for 2 hdd's in raid setup,//

quad or core2 intel...no amd...doesnt need to be a xeon or setup for server.

ddr3 ram is preferred by the customer so that and a mobo that will accomodate ddr3. 4 or 6 channel...

Core i7 is not necessary...current cpu is fine.

$2500.00 budget in canadian currency.

go at it folks..

Why is DDR3 RAM preferred? DDR2 1200 (PC2 9600) RAM is available and near the same speed as DDR3 RAM.

Take a look at this motherboard that takes up to 16 gigabytes of DDR2 1200 memory. It has great features:
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3R

Wow what kind of "business" are we talking?

Clearly not word processing and email

Good set up! but get a brand name MOBO like gigbyte, foxconn, msi, asus instead.

I agree with all the parts Daisymtc picked except for the motherboard and power supply.

You are quite limited on your choices with a motherboard if you decide on a board that takes DDR3 memory.

I would choose this power supply instead:

OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700 Watt - $110
