Difficulty Booting Up Computer

I hope this thread is in the right place, as I am beginning to have an issue with the computer booting up. I built this in 2009, with the help from this forum and have been very happy with it since. However lately, when I turn it on, there sometimes will not be a "beep" sound and it just sounds like the hard drive continues to spin. I have to force shutdown several times before it finally comes up and shows on the screen with a proper start-up. I don't have an issue replacing anything, just not sure which needs to be replaced. Here are the specs:

It not beeping just means its failing to post. It could be anywhere from a hardware beginning to fail such as hdd or may just need to reset cmos. Disconnect hard drive, data and power cables to see if it boots up correctly. If it does then the hdd is the problem. Would need to run western digitals disk diagnostic program on it.

I forgot to mention that this issue only happens after it's either been off or sleeping, for awhile (and even then, it's not always consistent). Not sure if that makes a difference. Also running Win 7.

So after a cold start. Could be power supply but not sure. Reset the cmos first and see it reacts any different.

Unplug power from power supply, remove cmos battery from motherboard, press and hold the power button on the case for 10 seconds, then wait 10 minutes. Then reinsert battery, reinsert power cable and try booting up. If you had and custom settings in the bios then you will have to set those back up again as resetting the cmos will reset the bios back to defaults.

I just replaced the battery on the mb about 3 weeks ago. Issue was happening prior to and after the battery change. Still recommend changing it?

If all you did was remove one and add another one then most likely the cmos wasn't reset. The system needs to be discharged fully, thats why you need to press and hold the power button on the case with the power supply unplugged from power. You will also notice that the system date will change when properly reset.

Computer was off overnight and when I tried turning it on this AM, there was no problem. To early to tell whether resetting the cmos took care of it. Since it was never a consistent issue, I'll keep a close eye on it and post another update in a few days. Thanks

Once you have completely reseted BIOS,be sure to LOAD OPTIMAL DEFAULTS and then save them in the BIOS once your BIOS was reseted.
Since on some motherboards you can get something similar like "CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded!".Something like this:
