Thanks

yeah most 775s will work for core 2 duo or the quad. but just to be sure, you should post the boards you are considering. what are you looking for in a motherboard? maybe we can post some suggestions

wow, quick response!.. here is what I would like

Core2Duo/Quad Modo
GOOD overclockabality
SLI ready (dual pci-E)
4 gigs of DDR2
ATX ot r micro, prefer full atx

all for $99!!!

yes, i have two recommendations for you.

anything with nVidia 650i would be perfect for what you need. i personally have the ASUS p5n-e SLI. i couldnt be happier with the board, it is amazing. here is a link:

if you want to spend a little more money, you can go with the nVidia 680i chipset, which gives more bandwidth on the PCIe slots for SLI, and a few more overclocking options, but it is more expensive. here is the link for that:

i like those choises..

but.. I am looking at a the Q6600.. its only 360+ shipping.. So I was thing I would like to get two of them.. do you knwo any mobo's that are dual socket? I know they make em for AMD how about intel?

to be honest, you really dont need that. the only dual socket motherboards that i know of for newer intel processors are server motherboards, and they wouldnt be that great for gaming

OMG.. thats perty.. 8 ram bays.. 2 sockets.. wow..

after doing alot of research I have decided to go with ONE Q6600 and drop $800 into my video card setup.. that quad core is more than enuff for gaming, its the video card I want to get.. dual 8800GTS's 640MB..

I have also decided to go with that second mobo posted as I want to run Pc8500 ram with can I not do with the first mobo posted..

you sure you want to go with dual 8800GTS's and not just one GTX? the performance wouldnt be that much worse with one GTX, and it leaves room to add another later on :)

oww, you bring up a good point.. let me do some comparing:

8800GTS : 3DMark06 Average About: 12,464 Price: $365+$365+$33.40 = $763.40

8800GTX: 3DMark06 Average About: 11,300 Price:$480

WOW YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT, THANKS FOR OPENING MY EYES MAN!
but to be honest, now that im not running SLi I am having second thoughts on the mobo. maybe i dont need a sli mobo, could save $80 or so.. but NO, I will run sli one day so im sticking to it!!

also keep in mind that with SLI you can only use 1 monitor (not sure if you ever plan to use dual monitors) but its something to consider

wow really.. I did not know that, yes I always run 2 monitors.. my regular 23" dell monitor for everyday use, and my Dell 3300MP projector for movies and TV.. I clone the screen 24/7.. I cant do that will SLI, glad I was talked into one 8800GTX!

yeah, whenever SLI is enabled you can only use 1 monitor.

btw, congrats on the oil project, that is great, im glad i can finally tell people that i know of someone who really did it!

I looked at that second mobo and they both say they are based on the 680I SLI mobo.. you said go with anything with the 650I chipset did you mean 680?.. (seems to be most popular on tiger also)... so I found this

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2945261&CatId=2014

the reason I want to go with this on is I want to be able to run PC8500, where as both those mobo posted can only support PC6400.. it does not have quite the audio setup but I dont really even use sound other than a USB headset.. so the basic audo is not a big deal for me.. but being able to run that PC8500 is a big deal..

so does that have your aproval?.. I LOVE EVGA video cards, do they do well with mobo's also?.. or should I stick with asus?

Thanks
