Hi I am a Digital Cinematographer. I have put down an order for a revolutionary digital camera that is gonna take digtal cinema to the next generation. The camera is RED RED ONE
Basically, right now, I am trying to prepare myself for this camera. I am trying to design a digital workflow that I can use on one of my movies. The Data rates coming out of the camera are going to be in the range of 50Mb/s-200Mb/s.
yes, I know, very very crazy. This camera will be capable of doing 4K sized footage at 60 frames per second!!
But I need to design a workflow that is able to harness and manage these amazing data levels.
I was thinking of making a RAID setup using these: RACKS
and filling a few of these with 250GB or 500GB harddrives.
So if I have about 2 or 3 of these RACKS: One on set recording the whole time. And when it fills up, I swap out the harddrives and Clone them (maybe with Acronis True Image Cloner) Then substitute in another rack for recording while one RACK is being Cloned. And when that is done, the third cloned rack can be sent off to my editor for editing while filming is happening.
How does this sound? I just need to know if this would make sense, and what kind of PC's I would need to handle this.
And what Kind of RAID would I need to use, I would like to have a mirrored one so that the data cannot be lost.
well that's all of it..I think
Can anyone help me? I really need the help.
thanks
