Direct X 10

I am going to buy either a 7800 or a 7900 hunderd next week but I was told buy someone that Direct X 10 cards will start coming out very soon and that I would be better waiting for them. Should I still buy the card I want or should I wait?

That said, our sweet spot for the Nvidia GeForce 7 series is the 7900GT. It gives the best overall experience for enthusiast gamers at the lowest relative cost. Many people think of Vista and DirectX 10 now, but The best gaming you will have for the time being is with the cards that are on the market now. If you are sitting on the fence you should not only consider what you are saving by waiting for the next great card, but also the cost of missing out on what you could experience now.

Interesting perspective on the topic. Direct X 10 won't be fully in force for a while after it is released, since most people won't have vista for a while. I would pick up a gpu now and then wait to upgrade to direct x 10 later.

Plus DX 10 games will still run on DX 9 cards, just not with all the eye candy.

It will be a while before there released, and they wont be able to take advantage of DX10 features until Vista is released. I would go with the 7900GT.
