Direct2drive........Legal...?

if you have to pay for it(the actual game) then most likely, otherwise steam is about the only way i think about it

Yup...but personally, i like the box and discs and everything so i think its worth it to run out to the store.

That's true. Direct keeps the installation files in your account, so if you need to download the files again, you can log in and retrieve them. Still nice having the boxes though. :P

Mmm, thanks. I was wondering about that (like if you had to burn a disc).

Thats cool. Sorta convienent. Does it store the cd key with the game? In that case, it might be a better way to go because you can never loose it.

Well, in your account, you have a link to download the game and below that link is the activation key. It was really convenient and the download speeds are pretty fast (for me, around 2 Mbps). :)

I think they just invented direct2drive to rehabilitate the die hard pirates.. so they still have the idea of downloading something while its actually legal :P

it works pretty much like steam, doesnt it? the basic idea is nice, I prefer games I buy on a disk with a box etc. :) so I wouldnt use it. (does it even work outside the US?)

Sorta like Steam. Unlike Steam, you don't have to use a "Steam-like" program to run the games. You purchase the game, download a ZIP folder that contains the installation files and install the game. That's it. I'm not sure if they sell outside the US. Here's the link: http://www.direct2drive.com/
