Directory Printout Command

From my old DOS days I can remember a command to print out a directory so that I could have a printed listing of all files in that directory (Something like Type 'Directory name' > LPT1)
Is there something like that in Windows 7? I have several sticks and external HDs of which I like to have an idex from.
Any comments or suggestions what to use?
