Hi all,
I believe I may have posted about this some time ago, but the issue has since went unresolved and it is really bugging me to death.
I have a laptop (specs in sig.), and I have it connected to a BENQ monitor (this one). This monitor is a perfectly capable 1080p 60Hz monitor, as is my laptop monitor. I am using HDMI cable to connect the two, and have tried three different cables to rule that out. I have also put the laptop on dual display mode to watch the difference in the displays when this issue occurs to ensure that it is not a shared issue between the monitors.
What is happening is that when I attempt to play any DirectX 11 game (i.e. Tomb Raider, Call Of Duty: Ghosts, Civilization V, etc...), the screen has an odd problem. During the splash screens and the menu and the game alike, all images on the screen will "vibrate." This is not a screen tearing issue, I can tell the difference. The mouse cursor icon, the menu and all text/images displayed on it, will all "vibrate" and when looking from far away all images on the display look fuzzy due to the "vibrating/flickering." Close up, you can definitely notice that the images are literally moving back and forth (horizontally I believe) quickly.
I have not been able to find a solution to this issue. It only occurs on games using DirectX 11, and only occurs when I try to use 1080p. If I lower the resolution, it works fine. I have no idea what could be causing this at this point and it's driving me nuts. I tried talking to 2K support for Civ V having this issue and eventually they kind of gave up.
If anyone has any ideas, I'm willing to try just about anything at this point. If you want/need a DxDiag report or a MSinfo32 report, I'm more than willing to provide them, just let me know.
I look forward to resolving this annoying problem. Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate it.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, it also only occurs during full-screen. Here's a list of things that seem to force it to happen:
DirectX 11
1080p
Full-Screen
EDIT #2: Just tried some more troubleshooting and swapped the HDMI cable for a VGA cable and the issue resolved itself. Maybe something to do with the way NVIDIA or Intel handles the integrated/discrete graphics in the laptop? Regardless, I would rather be using a HDMI cable... Still accepting help, but until then I guess I'm going VGA.
