Disable Norton?

Hi,
I would like, if it is possible, to disable Norton System Works Anti virus on my laptop, without uninstalling it, so that I can download other Antiviruses.
Or does it have to be uninstalled?
I have looked at the main Norton window and help file, but it does not seem to help me!
The reason is, I want to try other types of trial, free antiviruses as I believe Norton is not stopping ' all the baddies' .

Any guidance or help on this matter.

I have done it so I could install McAfee

OK. thanks, but how do you do it? Disable Norton, not uninstall?

I woulden't suggest you to do it though you may be able to "confuse" your PC and install 2 AntiViruses but whenever you start your PC it wont be able to handle 2 antiviruses and will crash/freeze.
To circumvent this: Run > msconfig - press the last tab and dusable Norton from starting up with your PC
