disabled/missing cd/dvd drive

Bit of a tricky problem , as ive tried most answers people have come up with.
My cd drive is missing in my computer on my laptop.
I have tried deleting the upper and lower fields in regedit.
When i go into the device manager the drive is disabled (red cross through it), but i cannot simply right click and enable it as this option is not available.
In my bios page on startup the drive is lsted as disabled, but i cannot seem to find a way to enable it.(i can only enter things in menu bar, this could be a simple solution, bit i cannot find it).
Any other ideas people.

Many thanks

Go into your bios and see if there is an option to reset bios defaults and do it. Or hopefully there is an option somewhere in there to enable it.
