Disabling screensaver during Quicktime playback

Is there a setting in Quicktime v7 that disables the screensaver (or monitor power off) activating? Windows Media Player has the option in tools, but I can't find anything similar in Quicktime.

coudn't you just set the screensaver to come on after an hour or something when you want to watch a video

Yes I can - if I want to do that everytime I use Quicktime for more than 10 minutes and then reset it when I've finished - with the same process for the monitor power-off setting - but I don't think that's a reasonable solution.

The (apparent) lack of a solution suggests that this is another example of Qucktimes less-than-well-thought-out design.

I suppose if you use quick time alot then it would be annoying to have to change the screensaver and monitor settings everytime you use it.

They could be another way to disable the screensaver without changing the settings

I don't use QT a lot, but every so often I get something in .mov format. A couple of days ago I downloaded the Star Wars fan-film Revelations http://www.panicstruckpro.com/revelations/revelations_movie.html (really don't bother, it's not worth it although the effects are good for a "home" movie) as a .mov. The heros of the piece get into a spaceship a fly off and I thought "hey, this hyperspace effect looks just like the Starfield screen saver" then it didn't change because it was the Starfield screensaver. I changed the settings after that, and then after twenty minutes of not touching the controls the power saving mechanism turns the monitor off. How do Quicktime expect people to use their application to watch films?

I have really thought about these things before because I dont watch long films on my computer very often. Windows Media Player stops the screen saver from starting automatically, doesnt it? So why doesnt quick time do this

The only solution to this is what i said earlier unless anyone else has any ideas:confused:
