Disabling shared system memory

Ive got an HP media center PC, and ive upgraded the video card to a 7800 GS. The problem is when i go into the adapter section of my display settings it tells me I have 256 megs of dedicated video memory and 768 megs of shared system memory. To me it sounds like my video card is basically sucking almost a gig of ram from my system?? How do I disable this, or am I misreading the information somehow? Thanks. Im on windows vista ultimate.

EDIT i have a 7900 GS not 7800 sorry.

I dont think you can disable Turbocache.... It wont literally use it unless it really needs it. Its taking 512MB exactly..
