Disabling UAC for specific programs?

Is this possible? I have a few icons on my desktop that have the little shield icon on them and these always prompt me to say yes or no when I launch the application. Is there a way to turn this off for just these programs?

Thanks.

Not that I know of. Disabling UAC entirely wouldn't necessarily put your computer at risk, so that's what I've done.

Is there anything more to it than prompting you to allow a program to run? Does it ever trigger for programs running behind the scenes, or is it always on something you've explicitly run? If the latter, then yeah, I can see how it's not that useful, since I'm careful of what I run.

The latter I believe.
