Disappearing mouse

My wife has Windows 10 on her laptop, and her mouse has disappeared. I've avoided Windows 10, and am still operating under Windows 7. I asked her if she looked in her control panel, and she said there was no way to find or restart the mouse.

I asked her if she turned the computer off, then on, hoping the driver would fire up again, and she said she tried, to no avail.

Any suggestions?

I forgot to ask for the specs, what kind of computer she has.

It's an Acer Aspire. that's all I know, but it's fairly new.

I just heard my wife yell "got it!"

So, I reckon all is well. I axed her what she did, and she said a cold boot.

I thought that's what she'd done earlier, but she said all she did was restart.

Ask her if the touch pad was getting warm.

She said she had just done a windows update, but the pad wasn't any warmer than normal.

I have been seeing this problem on Win 10 upgrade machines, usually the driver is the problem. The fix every time is to open the device manager and uninstall the mouse drivers and reboot.
