DISH/PS3 HDMI inputs into PC, PC to 73'' HDTV

I finally have a full time computer hooked up via hdmi to my 73'' HDTV 1080p.... Its been about 2 weeks now and am loving it... Only now have a new goal for it to be an officially awesome set up, and need some help with this as I am out of resources...

So my goal is to be able to have multiple hdmi inputs to my computer... Now with this I am trying to have an end product that will allow my wife to use the original remote to the dish reciever to flip through channels on a given window (windows 7) on the screen.... And maybe at the same time my nephew can play PS3 on another window on the screen.... And still be able to check emails, browse internet, facebook, etc.... of course if watching the dish, that sound will be playing and the ps3 will be muted or vice versa....

Basically have multiple in's so my tv can please everyone at the same time, so we stop fighting over the stinkin thing... Using the computer as a hub allowing a mult-tasking big screen tv.... kinda like a Picture in Picture tv only using windows7 on the pc, to run the PS3 and DISH Reciever while I can use the comp for something else....:D

...I don't see that happening unless your tv supports mutli-panel display, meaning you can create different panels on the screen that are tuned to the different input sources. having those inputs on your PC will do nothing, what you are trying to achieve needs to be done through the tv. Though I don't see that happening anyway.

what he said lol, so it will work if you have an uber expensive tv, and it being a 73" im guessing it probably is lol

If you read what I am trying to tell you, I am asking if the COMPUTER can do it....?? I can run multiple windows with video (youtube, win media, divx, etc.) at the same time and the tv as the monitor handles it just fine... so the tv as the monitor is not the issue...

So I again ask, what product for purchase (upgrade), will allow my COMPUTER to have multiple HDMI-inputs on the back of it...?? At least two inputs...... This is not for editing purposes, but for display purposes....

I've attached two simple drawings to better explain through visual content... Again, my concern is what to buy that will allow this upgrade to my computer...

ohhh ok just to make sure i get this, you want to have multiple things running on your desktop and then have your desktop on the tv? so like all thigns or running no your computer and your computer output is to the tv? if so im not so sure this is possible, i think you would have to run it through the tv itself, im not 100% sure though, maybe theres some sort of adapter then can allow multiple hdmi inputs? but i really dont see how it would work

well yah, forget about the tv for a moment... on the desktop I want to run multiple (2 for now) HDMI inputs, and open them in windows across the desktop....

for my tv... It has 3 hdmi inputs, problem is you cant watch all at once... so if im on the computer, no one can watch tv, or no one can play ps3... or if they are watching tv no one can play ps3 or use the computer... So to keep from constantly switching input mode on the tv, just run all through the computer and open a new window when the wife wants to watch tv or vice versa for the ps3 or even run both on seperate windows with out ever having to switch input modes on the tv, being the computer will be the main input mode to the tv....

Read what I said:

I fully understand what you want, but it can't happen through your computer. The reason is the different devices you have need to be on different inputs. If you plug them up to your computer they will all be on one input. If you had a multi panel display then it would be easy.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about (of course you won't need 15 different panels though):

What you are looking for for your computer though isn't possible. You can get tuners that give you video inputs (that's what a tv tuner is) but you there is no way to split up the inputs without more than one display.

just a related question, i plan on buying 3 monitors for my pc, now say could i have a game open on one of them but have my facebook open on another and then have like a movie open on the third monitor all running from the same computer?

yah than to simplify what I am asking lets say that I scratch the dual hdmi inputs on the back of the computer and say I only want 1hdmi input.... I still am only going to run one monitor/tv....

is there a way to run hdmi input on a computer...??

if I had multiple displays... Then I might as well go and buy more tvs and just mount them on the side of the others and hook up three outputs to three different inputs to each different tv... Only thats not the mission....

Yep depending on if your video card(s) support however many monitors you want, you can do something different on each one. I will often watch netflix on one monitor while I play a game or do homework on my second.

And here. This is an hdmi input adapter.

here is another example of what I am trying to do.....

Lets say a football game is on in one window (muted), ps3 in another (muted), and listening to pandora at the same time.... My TV is hooked up to my surround sound so when listening to pandora it BUMPS..... basically multi-media-tasking in my familyroom....

I've read on this card, and it has only one input for hdmi, the other slot is hdmi out... if there was a card like this that had two hdmi inputs, than I'd be sold....

but what you just stated about how you run your two displays can be done with no inputs, watching netflix can be done through the internet.... and doing your homework or playing a game is done through software... all of wich is already on your computer... no inputs required.....

Yeah, haha. You asked if you could hook up more than one monitor to your computer and do different stuff on them, and you can.

alright now your getting on my nerves.... I never asked if I can hook up more than one monitor.... Ever....

I'd like to see others replies as you keep going in circles.... thank you tronscoso for your time, but you have been little help if that...

Again see my attached pictures from the first page to see that I want to run all to ONE DISPLAY/MONITOR/TV

A multi-hdmi-input for the computer-pc

I know of the black magic ones and stuff, but only have one hdmi input, the other hdmi slot on the card is for output of that same video feed...

Ok I've got an idea, just a bit more $$ than I feel is neccessary but I'm going to check to see if I have two slots to run two black magic cards.... Than I might be getting to my goal... Only those cards from my understanding are for editing purposes.... But maybe I should be able to use primarily as display windows for the input feeds....

It would be cheaper if both feeds were on the same card though.....

Now tell me you didn't say that....

I DIDNT SAY THAT..... ixiboneheadixi DID..... this is where you say, "OH..??"

My bad bro. Haha. You do a lot of double posting so I saw your name next to it. Regardless mate. Yeah, I'm getting on your nerves but I least I gave you your answer. There is no device to do what you want. Using 2 of those adapters is going to be the same thing as hooking the devices straight into the monitor, just using the PC as a medium.

regardless, I do apologize. at the same time don't double post. I'll leave your thread alone.

I've been double posting to try and keep up with as fast as you guys are posting.... that and I'm trying to make progress on this subject without the multimonitor stuff messing up my thread.....

Now back to running the multi capture cards, why/how would that be the same as running the inputs to the tv..... wouldn't I have two softwares, one for each that would allow two different windows for the two feeds...???

I am trying to (in your words) use the computer as the medium for my inputs.... only have access to them through individual windows....

that and my motherboard has room for three slots for these capture cards....
