Hey guys, a few day ago my pc became weird. Windows often don't boot up, only sometimes.

So I tought, why not low level format everything and reinstall windows ?

I load up my Hiren's boot cd, run utility disk and low level format. Everything went well...

No! The PC won't boot anything, cd, floopy, usb. I even tried external CD rom.

But still no luck...

Help..

Are you sure you don't have something mis-configured in the bios? The hard drive should have nothing to do with the boot sequence setup in the bios...well, unless it's set before something else :P

What make and model board do you have? See if there is an F8 option to choose the boot device along side the press del to enter bios setup. Some boards have that option during post to choose the drive to boot from before Windows starts to load. I know many Asus models have this. There you can choose between floppy, hard disk, or optical.

Booting off of a usb drive would require that to enabled in the bios itself if that option is there. Besides a bios setting you could be looking at another problem like a weak battery on the board or failing supply with a bad cap if not a board related problem. Review the board's manual to get familiar with the boot order selection first and then see how that goes.

Its an FIC motherboard.

honestly, before the error occured, similar error occured but I managed to fix it by connecting another HD I forgot to plug.

I went on installing windows, its works and I format the secondary drive.

Gives me ntldr error when I boot, so I tought why not start new and raw.

But now I'm stuck...

Are you running ide or sata drives there? With ide drives having the jumpers set wrong for the position on the cable will stall everything right there. This also includes optical drives(cd/dvd) as well as hard disks.

Sometimes when running two hard drives on the primary instead of the usual master on the end/slave on the center one or both is set to the cable select position. This was seen more with the older versions of Windows and on older boards.
