Disk Boot Failure?

So I just finished assembling my computer, and put it on its first run. Everything was alright, and it beeped once, which I think means it was a successful boot.

The problem is, I can't get into BIOS and it tells me there was a Disk Boot Failure; Insert System Disk and Press Enter. Does this mean insert the OS disk or what?

Also, my graphics card..went the computer turns on, is the fan supposed to immediately start running? All the other fans are running, but the GPU fan isn't, and it's getting a little hot from basically doing nothing. Is this normal? It's a Galaxy 8800GT if that matters

You have to go into bio before that screen pops up, as soon as you hit the power button start hitting the key to enter bios. (most likely delete).

Have you made sure that the fan is plugged into the pcb, or can you see it without taking the heatsink cover off?

The disk boot failure means you haven't loaded your OS onto it yet. If you have then it probably means its dead. But since you haven't installed the OS, then thats why its saying that.
 
alright cool, thanks, got the fan to work and was able to enter BIOS.

So, now my next problem is...for my boot order device, I set it to CDROM then my Hard Disk. I then exit BIOS and have my OS CD in the CDROM which is working...then it just says Booting from CDROM, and just sits there

Is there something wrong with the CD / OS? Everything else seems to be working fine

Sorry for all these question, it's my first time! :o
 
at least 3-4 minutes, then I decided to just shut it off

I'm pretty sure it's the CD though. Let's just say it's not a legit Windows CD :P Left that obviously insignificant information out

But, when I load the CD on my other computer, it works and seems like it has the necessary files and exe and whatnot.
 
Well, thats probably the problem then. I wouldn't trust any non legit copy of windows besides the fact its illegal. Most of the time they are buggy and can't even do windows update. Save up the cash for a legit copy ;)
