disk drive

I had a question. Just recently, my computer does not recognize both of my disk drives. I thought I might have done over my dvd drive, but it doesnt recognize my cd-rw or my a drive. Other than that the computer is clean from spyware and viruses. THe only thing i can possibly think of is a disk got stuck in my a drive. There is nothing else i can think of as the root of the problem. As for drivers, it came with none, as the computer is supposed to recognize the drive's instantly. It does acknowledge they exist, except when i try to install the driver off of the internet it says the drive does not exist. The error i get is code 37. Anyone know the problem?

I never changed the jumpers, just one day it decided it wasnt gonna work anymore. It is driving me crazy, because im relatively good at computers and i dont have the faintest idea what is wrong.

there's usually a tiny hole in the front of the drive. you can use a paper clip (or the tool that came with the drive) to manually open the drive to see if a disc is stuck. i don't believe that could be causing your problem though.

try uninstalling and reinstalling your motherboard drivers, something maybe wrong with your ide controller. have you tried running each drive seperately, or on another ide channel?

when you push the button, do any lights come on in the drive (you know the stupid light to say its working)
