Diskpart/Hard Drive error

My laptop has an 80GB Hard Drive but was split in two, one 40Gb C:\ and the other 40GB D:\ All the system files are kept in C:\ the other only had a backup file which i wasn't all that bothered about so i deleted it. I then used Diskpart to delete volume D:\ thinking the drive letter would disappear and the space would be added to C:\ however deleting D:\ has deleted everything, the drive letter and the space i had. How do i go about reversing the process or is it not possible?

Thanks in advance.

i would try your restore programs, i just bought my laptop, and ive had to do this, luckily it came with a trial of norton ghost so it was easy, if you dont have norton ghost i would try system restore

Apparently according to my Laptop's manual i needed the backup files stored on that partiition to do a system restore, or is there another way to restore the system?
