Display blinks rapidly

When I turn on my computer or "wake it up" my monitor display blinks rapidly for about 10-15 seconds and sometimes goes dark. It seems to operate ok after it's on but it has been getting worse. My video card is a 260gtx my monitor is a Samsung syncmaster2232bw. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Thanks John, I have done that and my drivers are up to date. I'm wondering if it's more likely the card or the monitor don't know if anyone else has had issues with either one.
 
Try a different monitor first and if it still does it, then you know its the video card. It also could be the refresh rate on the monitor.
 
As John said it could be the refresh rate. Try setting it 60hz. Also try using another plug on the video card. Try using another cable.

My brother's 5770 and his Asus 22" screen does a similar thing sometimes. Turns off, says no signal and then turns back on and it's all good, but it happens randomly.
