Display Drivers are not responding but have successfully recovered...HELP!

Hi,
a few days ago i finished building my gaming rig, i installed installed windows 7 (64-bit). the computer works fine, but when i go on to any game eg: Minecraft DiRT 3 it crashes and says that the display drivers have stopped working and have successfully recovered. i dont understand why this is happening becasue it doesnt do it when im on the desktop and browsing the web, just when im on games...

Hope someone will be able to help me

Do you have a dedicated card or are you using the onboard video? Have you installed the latest drivers? What specific video card are you using?
 
hey, i have a dedicated card (MSI R6870 HAWK) and i have the latest drivers, iv tried to reinstall windows and it keeps doing the same thing, iv tried everything i can think of. hope you will be able to help me because this is my christmas present and its not looking good to say that i cant play games on a gaming machine
 
Your psu is plenty power enough to push the 6870. It could be a bad video card providing you do have the latest drivers. Have you tried using an older set? I remember having to do that with my 3870 when on XP.
