Hi there!
I've had this PC (Dell 8400 series) with the PNY 9400GT (1GB) hooked up to my "regular" television (38" Sony Trinitron) via S-Video for awhile. I brought it upstairs and hooked it up via VGA cable to a Sanyo 50" Plasma TV. I changed the display resolution to fit the widescreen plasma.
Now, I have it back on the 38" Sony via S-Vid, but this is what happens:
[YT]KXiIxF524jo[/YT]
The screen turns black and white and begins to scroll, horizontally.
The only way I can get the system to display properly, is if I :
1. Start the computer in safe-mode
2. Uninstall the display drivers
3. restart the PC in normal mode
4. Re-install the drivers without restarting.
After I reinstall the drivers, the system asks me to restart. When I do restart, the display problems begin immediately on startup. If I don't restart, the drivers are still detected by my games and allow me to play. Once I exit the game and return to Windows, the display begins to turn black and white and scroll again.
If I do not load a game and stay in Windows, the display will be normal, but turn black and white and begin to scroll after a few minutes to an hour.
What I've tried:
1. Setting the resolution (it seems to happen at every resolution I've tried).
2. I've been told it might be the Hz setting. The only selection I can find in either the Windows display properties or the Nvidia control panel is "60Hz".
Please! I need to play Oblivion!
