Display Problems With Mandriva 2007

I recently installed Mandriva 2007 Spring and I am having problems with my display. I updated the kernel to 2.6.17-14 and installed the Nvidia Proprietary driver for the FX 5200 card cause the generic driver did not work with Compiz/XGL 3D. Now the resolution is stuck at 800*600 and I can't make it any higher. Before I installed this driver I was able to set the resolution higher. I have the monitor set as generic 1600*1200 60hz and it worked before I installed the proprietrary driver. Is anyone here an expert on linux? Any help would be appreciated as always.

That's Strange. I have used Mandriva Linux in the past and have never had that problem. If you really want to give up, Switch to a different distro like Ubuntu or Kubuntu.

Well I'm not giving up thats for sure. The only problem that I am having with Mandriva is that I'm not able to change the resolution. Once I get that fixed it'll be all cool. Do you have any tips?

EDIT: No matter how I configure the driver using the "XFdrake" it's always the same resolution. I even tried to mess it up by setting things wrong in the "Configure your Monitor" section. Nothing happens it always stays the same which leads me to believe that the NVIDIA driver that I installed has it's own configuration utility although I could be very wrong and something is messed up. I went back to the original generic driver to test it out and it configs fine.

Another EDIT: O.k. when I enable multiple displays something does happen, but not what I want.

O.k. I did it I got it working fine now after about 5 reinstalls lol. I really don't know what I'm doing, but I guess I do in a sense, since I got it working.
