Display refreshing randomly

Hi all,

I have a new desktop (C2D 2.66 GHz, 2 GB, GeForce 7950 GT 512 MB), and from the beginning the display has been sporadically refreshing (going to black for a second, then coming back on, like when you change resolutions). Sometimes it's every 2 minutes, sometimes once a day. I have XP Professional SP2 and all the current drivers. I know it's not the monitor because I used it consistently with my last computer for two years.

My question: is it definitely the video card? Or could it be another component? I'm getting the video card replaced because it seems most likely, but in your (much more knowledgeable) opinions, will this clear it up?

My peace of mind is riding on this. You people are always so helpful, so thanks in advance!

I did a bunch of reinstalls...it didn't help. I even reinstalled Windows.

Let me phrase it this way:

If it's not the drivers or the monitor, is it definitely the video card?

reinstall drivers...

I'll recommend the drivers by TweaksrUs.com

Lol, I had those drivers for awhile. Just recently i need to repair install, And I keep getting BSOD 0x0000007e upon GUI boot. I stayed up almost all night only to find out that those drivers rename your graphics card, and windows didn't know what the component was so there was a harder/software conflict.

Just for that i don't recommend, but Also I switched back and forth quite abit and I never saw a difference, so theres one more reason. :)

I believe he's already tried reinstalling up-to-date drivers, seems they didn't work.. The graphics card itself is the most likely suspect to me.. :\

I stopped using them when I realized I don't really have to overclock my GPU
