Display suddenly weird

Help! My laptop display suddenly is acting oddly. I can read most everything OK (icons, text, etc) but the graphics aren't good. Movies are distorted, pictures too, desktop background too - the image is like watching a scrambled cable channel. Could I have caused this by wiping down the screen with a moist towel? It's a Dell Inspiron, about 2 years old. Running Vista Home Premium.

Is there a setting, driver, or automatic fix for this? Thanks, Larry
 
have you reinstalled your video drivers? can you post a screenshot. i think if water got into the screen you would see a wet patch, but won't screw up the entire display.
 
Thanks for the tips, but it magically cured itself after a few restarts. Hopefully it won't randomly happen again.
