displaying widescreen

Hi.

There was a good deal at the store for LCD screens, so I bought a new 19" widescreen for my old computer on the spot. OOPS! (I think?)

When I go to the setting properties (I have windows XP) the only available options for screen resolutions are in the 4:3 ratio (ie.800x600, 1024x768, ect) or 16:9. My new monitor has a maximum resolution is 1440x900 (which makes 16:10), so I was wondering if there is any way I can make it display other resolutions properly (i don't care if the screen is not completly filled) If not, is there anything else I can do or do I have to return my new toy at the store?

Thanks.

I guess there is nothing I can do with my current screen and card...but since it's not worth it to get a new video card for my old computer, i'll just keep it around for the next computer I get. I could go back to my old CRT for now, though I am starting to think all that space gain on my desk outweights having to look at slighly streched images.

Thanks for the advice anyways!

really? I bet you could get a $30 card that would do what you need.
