Divices with removable storage

I have windows xp and inside my "My Computer" folder I have these removable disk. "Removable Disk E, F, G, and H." What are they really for? I had plans to save stuff on them but I dont kno what they really do. Thanks!
 
well benjamin, if u don't know we don't know even more so.
we can only guess what it could be
anyway, those could be as sad above flash drivers, partitions, or created
with softwares such as Nero or Virtual disk (for image) , do u use anything like that?
 
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you have a SATA drive that's partitioned. XP treats all SATA drives like removable drives (SATA is the replacement for hot-swappable SCSI drives).

Also, some printers, I have noticed, show as removable drives as well.
 
you got a card reader on your pc? often each card reader slot will show up as a removable drive even when no card is in them
