DIY laptop antenna

I have been getting some free time off work lately and I decided to build an antenna for my laptop! Has anyone else done this before? So far my plans are to take the standard connection for the laptops wifi and move it outside the laptop and use a female pigtail. From there I am going to make an antenna that either A.) attaches to the back of the screen or B.) is completely seperate. I might make both, idk yet. I'll probably do a writeup as well once I get it all figured out so you guys can do it too. I think the hardest part is going to be tuning the antenna to the correct frequency.

yeah so last night I hacked together a biquad antenna just for a proof of concept, but it didn't work out so well. It is only about as good as my stock antenna. I think it is because my coaxil cable is a little too heavy duty for such a weak signal. Anyways, I ordered a USB wifi card with a SMA connector on the side so I can make a legit antenna.

The antenna works pretty well right now. I ordered a USB wifi card with a SMA connector. It has a little higher Tx/Rx power then my internal wifi card so hopefully it will take advantage of the antenna.
