I hav an ASUS A8N32 SLI mobo and i was wondering:
is there enuf space in the board to install 2 7900GTX (they take up two slots) a sound card and a physics card?

so do mine

the 7900GTX also go into PCI-E slots but i was just wondering if there was any way to add another pci slot because the graphics cards cover up the place to insert the card (or is there a cable to plug in so the physical card doesnt have to be plugged into the mobo)

Unless there is a cable you're after is lurking somewhere, up for sale, on the Internet, it physically cant be done. Unless your soundcard uses a pcix1 slot.

I would have thought though, with dual dual-slot graphic cards gaining popularity and the physics card in the headlines, some company has at least thought about producing some sort of pci slot extension to allow 2 dual-gpus, a ppu and a soundcard to fit. Maybe a cable in the style of a hard-drive connection, and the ppu hanging from the roof of the case, as this wouldnt need to a pci slot in the case.

I guess this is a reason to stick with dual single slot gpu's.

There is a solution. There have been rumors about the PPU being compatible with PCI, x1, and x4 slots! With both of your GPU's in there, you have 1 PCI slot left. Put your audio card in there and then wait to see if the rumor is true. If it is you can throw it into that x4 slot up at the very top. That is the only solution that I have.

well by the time the PPU actualy make its mainstream market opening mobo manufactures will start adding in another PCIe slot. give it some time.

If you don't mind replacing the stock heatsink, the Thermalright V1-Ultra is a single-slot cooler that's compatible with the 7900GTX. At around $45, it's not cheap, but if you're SLIing 7900GTXs, I doubt that would be a problem.

i thought his problem was that he didn't have enough pci slots, so that really wouldn't help because it still uses up a pci slot.

They wouldn't put in another PCIe slot in if they already have enough. I can't even name 3 things off the top of my head that would use an x1 or an x4 PCI-E slot.

Also, I doubt they would put in another PCI slot because the motherboards that are out now-a-days have plenty.
