Do I have enough storage?

What is the average amount of space a music CD takes up in MB/GIG bytes? I have CDEX and over the next few weeks/months/years I'm going to be doing 6000 CD's (my whole Cd collection). I have 2 250G External drives and I want to make sure that will be enough. I plan on copying them at the highest bite rate available, which I think is 320 but I could be wrong. Once I'm done copying them these drives are going to go back in the box and not be used until I want to make a cd, because all I want to do is back up all my cd's just in case I want to sell them or something. So do I have enough space or should I get another HD?

Im really not sure.
Depends on the length of songs and how many there are on each CD.
1000 songs takes up about 4gig on an old iPod mini and most of my songs are around 4gig.
If you hade 6000 cds, 10 songs on each cd, thats 60,000 songs multiply 4 you will need about 240gig mabye.
Around 200-300gig probably.
So yes 500gig should be enough in theory

what program are you going to use to rip the music if i may ask? media player uses about 120Mb for a Cd when ripped at i think 114kb/s (not 100% if thats the correct rate.. but its about the middle one in mediaplayer)

i think the best would be if you rip a 70 min CD,.. and see for yourself tough :)

like is said in the previos post,.. it can be quite compact... but then,.. ITunes (assuming you ripped it with that) uses ATRAC2 or even ARTAC3+ file format (again im not 100% sure of the name again :( ) but at least its NO wma or MP3,.. Itunes is much more compact.. however.. you can only play the files in itunes and on an Ipod iirc
