Do I need 64-bits?

I'm about to upgrade my computer (only keeping the drives) and would hope to keep using the system for at least another four years. Am I likely to encounter 64-bit games etc in that time or should I just go for cheaper 32-bit components?
 
Some 32bit software does work, but in the future i think most games will be 64bit. But i've heard that a 64bit CPU doesnt work with some games/apps. I would go with it though, and get windows pro x64 (supports up to 128gb of ram) lol

I wasn't, that was the problem:P Wordperfect5 is the only version that I have, and I was (still am) really pissed at Word...so I tried that.

Some 32 bit software still uses 16 bit installers.

You will need 64 bit eventually but I would just get a 64 bit cpu and use 32 bit windows for now. You can upgrade to 64 bit windows later when you need it.
 
i have heard of some programs/games not working with xp pro 64, but i think you should get it for the long run.

Well there are 64bit games now.... so its safe to say yes

just because its 16bit doesnt mwan its not useful. hell a good chunk of the north american traffic grid is managed by 8bit procs as are cars.

Yeah ....64bit is worse in some ways than 32bit ...
