Do I need a graphics card if I can run my games?

I was looking to buy a dedicated GPU but most of the people buying are doing so because they can't run certain games, I can run all of mine just fine (although the fan gets a bit loud). So in the interest of my wallet and health of my computer, do I actually need a GPU? Is it bad for the computer or the CPU if I'm running things off the integrated card?

I have a Dell 620s

If he is playing all his games fine with an integrated GPU in the i3 processor, he must be playing games like minecraft or counter-strike. Or games from the late 90s. I dont see an integrated GPU running any of todays games "fine".
