Do i need a heatsink

idk, but it will do a LOT better job than the stock one, and you will never have to worry about it overheating

You're good

Retail CPU's come with a heatsink / fan ( usually a crappy one ).

My CPU runs a little hotter than I'd like it to - but not anything troublesome. Sooner or later I'll get an aftermarket CPU cooler - but for now I'm running on stock.

You're a step ahead of me - congrats :good:

the difference between a fan and a heat sink is that a fan is mounted for ambient case cooling or for specific parts. People generally call a heat sink a "fan" or a "CPU cooler" the heat sink is the actual metal/copper/aluminum block at the bottom which takes the heat from the CPU up to the fan which disperses the heat. Hope that clears things up.
