So I'm kinda of a noob at this stuff, But I was wondering if I needed to fix my Hardrive message pops up saying " if i want to format it" and everytime i try to open it it hangs and freezes my computer. It sucks cause all my memories are on that hardrive I have a new one though doesn't have any problems with that, but I wanna get back my old stuff on my old hdd.

So if you guys could help me? or is it dead and I have to dish out 600 to 1000 bucks?

thanks.

If you want to possibly recovery your important memories then yes, it will cost hundreds of dollars to send the drive to a professional data recovery center for them to retrieve your data. Thats why you always create backups on multiple media and store them in a safe place.

it all of a sudden stopped working:/ there is another option though ease us recovery software would that work?

You can try using a data recovery program like the one you mentioned or Recuva. So the everything is normal until you try searching the drive? What brand of drive is it? It's possible you try using the drive manufacturers disk diagnostic utility to scan the drive and it might be able to repair it but its a slim chance.

i tried and its a western digital scorpio blue 320gb

Then there isn't much else you can do besides trying the data recovery programs or send it off to a professional data recovery center.

Pareto logic data recovery software is definetely my favorite.
It always succeeded in my case.
The software is not free however...
Those free ones never really had a big success in my case...I guess that's the reason why they are free lol.

But if HDD is physicaly damaged then no software can help here so let's hope that's not the case.

Also be careful with the freezer method since that can damage the drive even more...

Like Johnb35 said...it is ALWAYS good to have a backup of all your important data on at least one more place.

Usually if it fails hard enough to not boot you won't have much success with recovery.

There's always the 'freezer trick'.

But as stated, backing up your crap onto another medium saves you a lot of headaches.

update:

yeah it didnt go through after the 2nd process i was doing, i heard like clicking noises in the hardrive so i just gave up.

and freeze method nah i'll pass could damage it.

it was 13 hours remaining then i started hearing clicking noises in the hardrive didn't go through.

They won't fix it, the only thing they can do is retrieve the data. Google data recovery services and find someplace close to you to contact and ask for estimate to retrieve data.
