Do I need Windows XP x64???

I currently have XP Pro installed with a tri-core AMD processor with 2 GB RAM.

Should I install XP x64 (home or pro?) to take advantage of my new hardware???

The main programs I use are Photoshop and Illustrator CS2.

Will I see a difference?

Also, I installed the programs that make XP look like Vista. Any comments on this? Seems like its slower, im sure because of the visual effects....

No I wouldn't spend the money on it, now if you wanted Vista x64 that's a different story, and yes I would upgrade in that case.

what kind of better features will I get with Vista 64?

I mean, I have the visual effect already?.....

Maybe just wait for Windows 7????

Besides, Windows x64 is only a oem version. And it is Pro only. Get the retail version of vista ultimate or Premium x64. Oem will only work on 1 machine, change a major part of it and you will have to call for a new key code.

Don't go to XP x64

I upgraded to a new computer and thought I would take advantage of it, so I installed XP x64 bit. Nobody writes XP x64 bit drivers for a lot of the programs I had, so many would not work after that. They do seem to be writing drivers for Vista x64 bit.

You have 2GB of RAM, which is standard and fully supported by 32-bit XP. If you had 4 or 8GB of RAM, I might recommend upgrading to 64-bit, but I really don't see the point with the specs you mentioned. With Vista, I'd recommend 3GB just for some wiggle room, but that's just me.
