do laptops use the same video cards as desktops

do laptops use the same video cards as desktops or do they use a special small one and do they use the same soundcards as desktops

generally speaking the chips are the same but they're usually integrated into the laptops mainboard circuitry. they chips are usually lower power versions of their desktop counterparts and may be lacking in some features and performance

A desktop video card wouldnt fit in a laptop. I think the only option is to get an integrated one, one thats built in. Laptops are usualy never customizable in tems of hardware, except for possibly changing out ram and bay drives.

Might seem pretty far out there, but if you really want graphics on the go, you can cut a hole in the laptops case and connect the graphics card inside, but have the actual card on the outside. Of course you would also need enough watts of power. Oh and the GPU would drain your battery in about a half hour :D.

a lot of desktops do not have integrated video. dell laptops use pci express and agp slots for their video cards and the video card is removable. just can't plug in a desktop video card though. every laptop company have laptops without integrated video cards. and the gpu should be the same as those of desktops.
