Do you get more speed and space?

I would have to say yes, because you can fit a lot more stuff in side a desktop as opposed to a laptop and laptops tend to not allow you to change the processors, but that is just what I think. i would have to say if you are looking to save 1000 of files and play some hard core games I would go with a desktop, but there are a few laptops out there that will work

Well right now I have a laptop but as I found out, I use it all the time on the desk and it tends to get really hot. Any suggestions on what brand to buy? I don't want to build one because I don't know anything about computers.

Laptops are typically slower due to lower power consumption devices inside. Laptop drives are typically slower too because they are limited to how fast they can go. DVDs are limited to 8x(at least all I've seen), CDs around 24x, and harddrives by around 7200RPMs.

Storage is less, harddrives are usally 100G max. I don't really look for these drives so there might be larger ones around now...

Well I don't do much on my current laptop so I think that another laptop would be more than enough speed and prolly enough space to.
