I've only worked with IDE connection for HDD's in the past with my Dells. I had a purchase set to go tomorrow that is getting rearranged b/c my Dell 2400 SUCKS and is not very PC builder friendly as far as a box goes. No upgrades beyond RAM for that puppy.
1) Anyway - after looking at the drive on sale - I saw the description says " sata " HDD drive. So When I purchase a HDD, I thought they came with an IDE and SATA - and I'd choose which connection to use based on my PC setup. But from the looks of that - I had it wrong. It appears that you choose a HDD based on the connections you want to use. As in - if I order a drive that's IDE for my current PC - with the intentions of using it in a future build as a SATA drive - that's not gonna work?
2) If I have to choose ahead of time - is it pretty much a given that you go with a SATA connection for a new build today - and don't consider anything else in terms of connecting MOBO to the HDD?
Do I have that right - or do the drives come with multiple connection options.
Thanks
