Do you need 2 identical GPU's to use SLI or can you use 2 different ones?

OK, my guess is that you need to of the same GPU's in order to run SLI. But if I'm wrong let me know. And still if I'm right still let me know.

I hear you can use two different ones, but they MUST have the same chipset. In other words, you could use say a 7600GT with 256M RAM, and a 7600GT with 512M RAM. However, the whole setup would only have 256M VRAM. You CAN'T use a 7600 and a 7800.

As far as I know they must have the same GPU, i'm not sure if a 256 + 512 would work, but I guess it's possible. But no, you can't use a card such as a 7600GT and 7600GS in SLI.
