Me, I like to play the computer. They cheat less and they can respond quicker.

I think a poll can be revealing. So who do you prefer to play? The computer or live human
beings?

Live humans every time. You simply can not conduct psychological warfare on a computer. Conducting it on people is way easy.

Computer because I'm anti-social and don't really play any multiplayer games anyway.

A computer opponent poses no challenge, there are always exploits and once you work out how they behave, every game will be a near mirror image of the last.

A human opponent, when matched to your ability, will pose much more of a challenge, will, if they have any sense, adapt to the plays, are always unpredictable and what is more satisfying than someone raging because you are doing so well :P.

Computers cheat far more than human opponents do. It is a tiny fraction of online gamers using cheats, whereas in certain games, the computer is given an advantage right from the get go to try and make the game harder. The computer not only cheats but is designed to. It still doesn't make it hard to beat them once you have worked out how they are programmed to behave, but it is still cheating.

Plus if you consider co-op, it is always more of a laugh to play a game with friends, or even random people that can have fun as well, rather than just be there. Computers also tend to have huge problems with co-op, like bad pathing or making stupid decisions

Well Gary, Minesweeper I don't believe so.

To be pedantic, yes there are a lot of multiplayer Solitaire games. I assume you are referring to Windows Solitaire, which is actually Klondike, which is itself a form of Solitaire, though let's use the proper name of Patience rather than Solitaire, we are British after all ;), but Klondike is not Patience, much in the same way as a Ford is a type of car, but not every car is a Ford

Live players.
The computer or bots are easy to remember the patterns of everything after a while.
Live players have a tendency to cheat or just find new ways to do something so its mostly a test of skill and cunning for me.

I'm not a competitive person tbh, if I beat someone on a game, I don't feel any happier or feel like I've achieved anything. I'm just weird I think :P

Live person all the way, because you don't know what their next move is going to be...or if they have a buddy!

with bots you can sort of predict what they're going to do!

I'm not competitive either though,If i die..i die,Its just a game.

Live humans always, against bots its fun, but when it comes to a stage where there computer never beat you, then it is no longer fun. So live humans it is.

I think it depends on the game with the bots, strategy games tend to have much better AI than say FPS's

They do, however it is easy to work out that they favour this unit or this strategy and take advantage of their stupidity

Not really, the AI in Civ 5 for example. Each Civ AI has it's own personality but they are still unpredictable.

But the personalities act the same. Even if you randomise the personalities, you can tell within 50 turns of finding them what they have been assigned

It still doesn't mean you have an instant strategy for them and a way to win does it? 'Darius of Persia is going to build as many cities as he can' oookaaaay, so whats he going to do then?
